b-solutions is promoted by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and managed by the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) as one of the actions proposed in the Communication "Boosting growth and cohesion in EU border regions".

b-solutions consists of four calls for proposals addressing obstacles to cross-border cooperation: the first two were launched in 2018 and 2019, a third one was opened in Summer 2020  and a fourth call has been closed on 16th of March 2021. The cases awarded in its framework are currently under implementation.

By participating in b-solutions, public authorities of border administrations had the chance to submit information about a legal or administrative obstacle they face when implementing projects in a border area. Successful candidates are assigned support from the European Commission to remove the difficulties which hinder cooperation with the neighbouring country.
