The Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) is a Europe-wide organisation that represents border and cross-border regions, promoting cross-border cooperation.

AEBR has its headquarters in Gronau and a project office in Berlin, Germany.

About the traineeship:
​
This is a full-time trainee position (39 hours per week), running from late March/early April 2026 to July or August 2026. The position is considered a mandatory traineeship (Pflichtpraktikum) according to German law. A monthly allowance of €603.00 will be provided. You can work from our project office in Berlin or remotely. The working language is English.

As a b-solutions trainee, you will gain knowledge and assist in implementing the b-solutions 3.0. Facilitating Cross-border Solutions initiative, which supports public actors at all governance levels in overcoming legal and administrative obstacles to cross-border cooperation in Europe. The b-solutions initiative is promoted by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and managed by AEBR.

Main tasks:
1. Communication and Event support
-
Assist in implementing the b-solutions communication and social media strategy, by helping prepare and adapt content for AEBR’s platforms.

Updating the communication calendar
-
Engaging with case representatives for testimonials
-
Drafting news articles for the Commission websites (BFPN, InfoREGIO)
-

Support the preparation of posting schedules, including:
-
Drafting simple social media posts and short news items,
-
Preparing visuals using templates (e.g., Canva),
-
Creating basic infographics and selecting appropriate images.
-

Help monitor online mentions and reshares related to b-solutions (e.g., from DG REGIO, multipliers, or project partners).
-
Support the organisation of b-solutions related events, online or in-person (logistics, communication).
2. Research and Capitalisation
-
Assist in research activities to identify new or relevant stakeholders, and potential examples of administrative or legal obstacles.

Update and maintain internal contact lists and other content databases.

Support the consolidation and maintenance of the database containing all solutions implemented since the beginning of b-solutions.

Supporting the creation of a feedback survey
-
Reaching out to all cases (e-mail and phone calls)
-
Collecting data
-

Prepare simple briefing notes on specific cases, themes, or border regions to support capitalisation and dissemination activities.

3. Publication (if relevant)
-
Collect and organise visual material (logos, photos, relevant information) for use in b-solutions publications.
Qualifications:
-
Master student enrolled in a University;
-
Interest, knowledge or previous experience in the field of cross-border cooperation;
-
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English (at least C1 (cfr. reference)); knowledge of German and/or another European language is desirable;

Proficient user of MS-Office and graphic design tools (e.g Canva).
